FTDB Full Time Dissertation Study A&S Natural Sciences

Description

Full time dissertation study is a fixed-fee registration for doctoral students who have completed all course requirements, passed the Ph.D. comprehensive examination, have completed 72 credits of graduate study, and are working full-time on their dissertations. Full-time dissertation study carries no credits and no grade, but counts as a full-time registration. Eligible students that meet the criteria, who are TA/TF/GSA/GSRs or Fellowship recipients are required to register for the Full-time dissertation study course in place of the usual dissertation or independent study courses. Students who need to take a course or seminar can register for that in addition to the Full-time dissertation study course. In either case, their tuition will be covered by the TA/TF/GSA/GSR or fellowship scholarship to the usual extent. Eligible students who are not receiving departmental support may register for the Full-time dissertation course if they want or need to be considered full-time students (e.g. for student loan purposes). Alternatively, they may continue to register for one credit only, which will enable them to use University facilities, and provide eligibility for graduation.

Students registering for FTDS, which gives them full time enrollment status, are also billed the full-time fees for computer network, student health service, and transportation. Students who have met the criteria for FTDS and are funded MUST register for FTDS.
